Wednesday 28 October 2026 brings another unsettled day for the UAE. The National Centre of Meteorology, known as the NCM, also expects rainy weather to continue across parts of the country. Khaleej Times reported the forecast on 27 October, then updated its report early on 28 October.
Gulf News also covered the NCM outlook on 27 October. Its report placed today in a longer run of showers forecast through Saturday. You can use this guide to check what may happen near you before you leave home. Dates matter in a fast-moving forecast, so this guide names the day in each section.
In fact, this guide stays close to the official forecast. Every figure below comes from the reports listed at the end of this article. Where a detail remains a forecast, this guide says so clearly. Readers who want the wider picture can start with our earlier UAE weather guide for background on recent conditions.
What does the NCM forecast say for today, 28 October 2026?
Meanwhile, today looks fair to partly cloudy across much of the UAE. Convective clouds may form over northern and eastern parts during the day. Those clouds typically bring rainfall, so rain remains possible in those areas.
Rain was forecast rather than guaranteed for any single place. The NCM outlook points to northern and eastern areas first. Other areas may stay dry while clouds gather nearby.
Humidity also rises by night and into Thursday morning. Coastal and internal areas could feel humid, especially in western parts. In addition, fog or mist may form during that humid spell.
- Northern and eastern areas: watch for convective clouds and possible rainfall.
- Other areas: expect fair to partly cloudy skies for much of the day.
- Night into Thursday morning: expect humid air and a chance of fog or mist.
Earlier, Khaleej Times published its report at 16:50 GST on 27 October. The report was updated at 07:18 GST on 28 October. Both versions drew on the NCM forecast for Wednesday. Overall, sea conditions stay slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
How did yesterday unfold in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah?
Tuesday 27 October brought hail to two emirates. Hail also fell in Fujairah at Midq. In Ras Al Khaimah, hail fell at Al Manai and Shawka.
Rainfall also reached eastern and northern regions on Tuesday. Some wadis flowed after the rain in those regions. Gulf News reported both the rainfall and the flowing wadis on 27 October.
The National reported hail and heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon. Its report also covered Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. An NCM alert warned of winds up to 45 kph reducing visibility through dust. That alert stayed in place until at least 9pm on Tuesday.
Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to exercise caution during rain. The same police message urged drivers to follow variable speed limits shown on road signs. That advice matters again whenever rain or low visibility returns. Wet roads can hide standing water, so keep your speed down in heavy rain.
Yesterday’s detail sits in our UAE weather update for 27 October. That update covers the same NCM outlook as it stood on Tuesday. Today brings a fresh forecast, so treat yesterday as background only.
Where could rain appear across the UAE today?
In particular, place matters more than usual today. Northern and eastern areas carry the clearest chance of convective clouds. Coastal cities, however, face a different mix of cloud, humidity and wind.
Northern and eastern areas
Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and nearby eastern areas sit closest to the forecast rain. Convective clouds may build over these areas during the day. Rainfall may, therefore, follow where clouds develop most strongly.
Al Ain also appears in the wider NCM picture for heavy rain. The National reported an NCM online map showing heavy rain forecast for Al Ain until Thursday. In short, treat that map detail as a forecast for the area, not a promise of rain at one address.
Coastal cities and the west
Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain share the coastal outlook. Meanwhile, skies should stay fair to partly cloudy across these cities for much of today. Humidity may rise by night, with fog or mist more likely in western areas.
Separately, and unrelated to the weather, beaches in Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah were closed after the oil spill, as covered in our beach closures after the oil spill update and oil spill in Umm Al Quwain report.
Inland and desert areas
Away from the coast, inland areas may also feel warmer. Al Ain, for example, carries a reported maximum of 37C for today. The reported maximum for Liwa stands at about 39C.
Remote desert areas of Abu Dhabi could reach 40C over the next five days. That figure, in fact, comes from The National report on the wider five-day outlook. It does not describe today alone, so keep it separate from today’s city maxima.
How hot will it get in each city today?
At the same time, forecast highs reach 35C in Abu Dhabi, 36C in Dubai and 36C in Sharjah. Lows should fall to 26C in Abu Dhabi, 27C in Dubai and 24C in Sharjah. Khaleej Times gave those highs and lows in its report on the NCM forecast.
| City | Forecast high | Forecast low |
|---|---|---|
| Abu Dhabi | 35C | 26C |
| Dubai | 36C | 27C |
| Sharjah | 36C | 24C |
Those three figures come directly from the Khaleej Times report. In other words, they describe forecast highs and lows, not measured temperatures. Keep that distinction in mind when you compare cities.
A wider set of reported city maxima also appeared in an Akhbrna summary. That summary attributed its figures to the NCM forecast. This guide presents them as reported maxima, not as readings taken during the day.
| City | Reported maximum |
|---|---|
| Abu Dhabi | 35C |
| Dubai | 36C |
| Sharjah | 36C |
| Ajman | 34C |
| Ras Al Khaimah | 35C |
| Umm Al Quwain | 35C |
| Fujairah | 33C |
| Al Ain | 37C |
| Liwa | About 39C |
By comparison, Fujairah looks coolest among the reported maxima at 33C. Ajman follows at 34C, while several cities sit at 35C or 36C. Al Ain and Liwa, however, sit higher in the reported list.
Daytime temperatures should stay in the mid to high 30s in Abu Dhabi and Dubai over the next five days. The National reported that wider outlook on 27 October. According to that report, the NCM linked the delay in cooler autumn weather partly to El Nino.
October days in the UAE average 29.7C, according to an NCM monthly summary. That average covers whole Octobers, not a single day. Today, therefore, sits above that average in most reported cities.
Could wind and dust affect your drive today?
Wind, meanwhile, starts light to moderate for much of the UAE. Direction runs southeasterly to northeasterly through the day. Strong gusts may arrive at times, especially near clouds.
Khaleej Times reported gusts reaching 50 km/h at times. Those gusts can also stir dust and cut visibility. Gulf News gave a similar picture, with winds of 10 to 25 km/h strengthening around clouds.
Around clouds, Gulf News reported winds strengthening to 45 km/h on Tuesday. Dust stirred by those winds can reduce visibility quickly. Drivers should allow extra space and extra time when dust appears.
- Slow down early when dust or rain cuts visibility ahead.
- Use dipped headlights in fog, mist or heavy dust where your car allows it.
- Leave a larger gap to the vehicle in front on wet roads.
Road users can check the latest E611 closures and autonomous taxi tests before a longer drive. That link covers road changes reported separately from the weather. Weather and roadworks can combine, so check both before you set off. A calm check before you leave beats a rushed change on the road.
Will fog affect tonight and Thursday morning?
Fog looks likely enough to earn an official alert. Khaleej Times reported red and yellow fog alerts for the UAE. Both alerts also relate to fog formation and falling visibility.
The NCM advisory warned of a chance of fog formation. Visibility may, therefore, deteriorate as fog forms. At times, visibility may drop even further during the fog.
Humidity builds overnight and into Thursday morning. Coastal and internal areas, meanwhile, face the humid spell first. Western areas face the strongest chance of fog or mist.
Thursday morning carries the same fog or mist chance. Finally, plan an early start with extra time built in. Check conditions before you leave, especially for a western route.
Abu Dhabi Police urged caution during rain on Tuesday. Drivers should exercise caution whenever rain or low visibility appears. Variable speed limits on road signs should guide your speed.
What lies ahead on Thursday, Friday and Saturday?
Showers, meanwhile, remain in the forecast through Saturday. Gulf News reported further showers forecast through Saturday on 27 October. Each day keeps its own pattern, so check the day you need.
| Day | Rain outlook | Wind outlook |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday 29 October | Rainfall possible as convective clouds develop over eastern and southern areas | Winds to 45 km/h |
| Friday 30 October | Chance of rain in eastern parts | Winds 10 to 25 km/h, occasionally 45 km/h |
| Saturday 31 October | Convective clouds could bring showers to eastern and northern areas | Maximum winds easing to 35 km/h |
Mist may return overnight into Friday morning, particularly in western areas. Humidity also increases overnight into Sunday morning across coastal and inland areas. Seas stay slight in both gulfs throughout the four-day period.
The NCM online map pointed to heavy rain in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain until Thursday. That map detail came through The National report on 27 October. Use it, therefore, as a guide for the eastern areas, not as a street-level promise. Eastern areas deserve the closest watch until Thursday, on that map reading.
How should you plan your day around this forecast?
Firstly, start with the forecast for your area, not for the UAE as a whole. Northern and eastern areas need the closest watch today. Coastal and western areas need the closest watch tonight.
A short checklist for today
- Check the NCM forecast again before you leave home.
- Carry a light waterproof layer if you head north or east.
- Keep sunglasses and water ready for warm, bright spells between clouds.
- Allow extra travel time if dust, rain or fog appears on your route.
- Charge your phone before a longer drive in poor visibility.
- Tell someone your route if you drive through a remote area in bad weather.
Outdoor plans, work and events
Plans for the outdoors work best with a backup option today. Rain may also arrive quickly where convective clouds build. A covered space nearby keeps the day simple if showers appear.
Work and events in northern and eastern areas deserve a weather check first. Organisers can move timings or coverings early, before clouds gather. A quick decision early in the day avoids a rushed change later.
Evening plans need a fog check as well as a rain check. Humidity rises by night, and fog or mist may follow. A quick check before you leave can save a slow drive later.
Travellers should check recent flight updates before heading to the airport. Recent updates from 25 October also give useful background for the week. For travel between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, our Etihad Rail passenger trains guide between Abu Dhabi and Dubai explains the rail option.
Keep today flexible and stay close to official updates. The NCM forecast gives the safest base for decisions. Also, check again tonight for Thursday morning fog.
Look again at the forecast before an evening drive. Fog may form after dark, and conditions can change quickly. A fresh check takes a minute and can change your route.
